first contact with my examiners

When I submitted my thesis in December my supervisor let me know that the Viva (oral examination) usually takes place within about three months, but in her case it was a full six months as it took that long to find a date that both examiners and she could make it.

Therefore I was a little surprised that neither of my examiners sent me a note to schedule the Viva, but when I asked my supervisor she said that I should wait for them to contact me.  Today I finally heard from the internal (works for Durham) examinner "Hope you have had a good Easter. I am in the process of setting up your viva with your external examiner and I will be in touch shortly with the details. Thank you for your patience." I replied that things are good here, the snow is melting fast (only about a meter deep now), and let him know the dates I won't be available due to upcoming travel. It will be interesting to see how much more time will elapse before the actual Viva, and how much I have managed to forget about my own research by then.
