Glad I have a backup brain when I need one
I went to bed around 23:00 last night, without pausing to look at the calendar to see if there was anything on it for today. That last point wasn't exactly wise--just because Wednesday is normally the one evening a week without activities booked doesn't mean that we never have anything on for that day.
I woke up this morning at 05:45 and spent 24 minutes catching up on LJ reading whilst doing sit ups etc. Then decided I was still too tired from travelling this weekend to do the more active phone app workout and just took a shower and got ready for work instead.
Took the trike in, arriving at 07:28, picked up my office computer and went straight to the lab, where I changed over the tubes, torch, and cones on the ICP from those we use for solutions work to those reserved for use with the laser.
Then I turned on the ICP to let it warm up and checked the laser energy. As expected, it was maxing out on voltage without achieving the desired energy, so I did a gas exchange. I had just finished doing that at 07:50 and logged into my office computer, getting ready to check email, etc. while the ICP finished warming up, when my phone rang.

lord_kjar, asking about the "ear appointment" on the calendar for today at 08:30. Yikes! I had totally forgotten that they wanted to see me again a month after getting the new hearing aids.
Luckily, I have the best boyfriend ever. Despite the fact the he was supposed to be getting ready for work, he brought me the car, then we drove him home so he could scrape the ice off the company car (our carport is only big enough for our car) and I drove out to the hospital, arriving just enough before my appointment to type most of the above. Now I can return to the lab and see how the laser and ICP are working today...
